Feeling like ass after a wonderful weekend

2003-04-14 - 1:16 p.m.

All in all, I had a tremendous weekend.

Friday night I got all cuted up and went out to a nice sushi dinner with 'the guys'. It was really fun, especially being out with that crazy bunch. Mike Bucy (Ross' roommate) ate the whole lump of wasabi for $5. He was in agony for the rest of the evening. What made it even funnier was that he opened up another story with "The last time I did that...." I nearly peed my pants I laughed so hard.

Then Saturday I went on a 4 hour hike at Cloudland Canyon, which is in almost Alabama or Tennessee, I forget which. It was beautiful, and it was great to spend a day out with girls. I went with Lauren (James' ex) and her friend Susan. There was only one awkward Lauren moment, where she expressed interest in doing something with me that I was already planning on doing with James. But otherwise, I had a phenomenal time :-).

That night I went out for a 'low key' night in the Highlands. We went to Dark Horse - standard. It was James, Heather, Eric and myself, and I wasn't even drinking. Ross called around 11 and said they were on their way out there (he lives right down the road). So a bit over an hour later, as I was about to head out, they showed up. They were completely tanked. I wound up not getting home until super late. But it was fun, even though Ross pissed off some burly cowboys by accidentally throwing ice at them. Blair is incredibly cute when she drinks, and every time I tried to get up and leave, she took my hand, made a puppy dog face, and said 'don't go'. She also kept on telling me that I was her best friend, and inviting me to do naughty things with her and Ross. It was hillarious.

Yesterday was the Dogwood festival, which is an art festival in Atlanta. It was really cool, though REALLY crowded! It was almost too crowded, actually. At one point, I was with James and Bridget watching the frisbee dogs and I started to feel all faint and woosy. I started blacking out, I remember everything going dark a few times. I didn't actually pass out, but I was close. So they walked me to the shade, and kept on making me drink my water. We sat in the shade for a while and chatted. A bit later we walked around, and while I felt a bit better, I still wasn't 100%. When I left, I limped away (which was a new development).

We had an IM volleyball game last night, and I didn't play. I was a combination of nauseaus, dizzy, sunburnt and limping - not really conducive to good volleyball playing. When that was over, I got some stuff from my office, left school, and called Mike to whine. He was very sympathetic, and stayed on the phone with me until I got home. I then got into the shower, curled up in my pajamas, and called him again. I went to sleep shortly after, it was probably before 9. I felt AWFUL and was only getting worse.

So fine, I went to bed all nice and early, and my phone rang at 11:30. It was my mom, and she called because she was worried about me. She didn't know I was sick, but she also went to bed early and had a weird dream about me. It was really strange, and didn't sound scary, but she said she woke up scared, so she wanted to call me and make sure I was okay. We talked for about 15-20 minutes, sharing the stories of our weekends. It was nice, except it was late, I was sleeping and I was sick. But when that was over I called Mike again to whine some more, solicited a bit more sympathy, and went back to sleep.

Despite the super early bedtime, I still had a hell of a time getting out of bed. And I still feel pretty crappy. Better than I was before, but still not great. I even made the executive decision to skip working out today, which is something I never do early. It's just as well, I'm still limping.
